Between a Rock and a Hard Place

There was a movie that came out before Christmas called 127 Hours. It told the story of rock climber/mountain climber, Aron Ralston who was going on a day-hike in Utah, and whose right hand got stuck against a rock wall by a falling boulder. He survived on sips of water for 5 days, trying to figure a way out of his predicament. No cell phone. Nobody knew where he was. No hope of rescue. So he cut his hand off.

He has a book as well called "Between a Rock and a Hard Place"... and I've ordered it through the library. It strikes me that although he was physically in that place, caught between two immovable things... we too get stuck like that, just not physically. We feel caught in other ways. Aron sacrificed his hand in order to save his life. Do we think of sacrificing something in order to save our life? Or do we try to hold onto everything and keep everything and have everything??
