Back in the Saddle

My poor little Musings Blog! It has been languishing here for the last couple of months while I've been traipsing around on a holiday! I was able to get the Bible Blog pre-posted for 2 months... but not this one! Ah well... It feels weird to be back in Canada after so long, and a bit of an adjustment after being on the go for so long. I have a greater appreciation for many things though... civilized traffic! Free toilets! Real grocery stores! Sunny weather! English!! Recycling... Yeah... that's a big one! We really have no idea how blessed we are to have a universal recycling system here in Alberta (& BC). And the deposit system on bottles and cans... Over in Europe... if you buy a bottle of pop at a corner store, there's no guarantee that you can return it at another store for the deposit (which is 25 cents usually!)... And once you cross a country border, forget it! But, even trying to find a plastic recycling bin was trouble... paper yes... tin cans and aluminum cans yes... plastic, not so easy!

We sometimes think that Europe is more advanced than we are... and in some things they are but... when it comes to other things, they are a bit behind the times... Thank God for our electric dryers!! Not so easy to come by in Europe! Oh... and let's not even mention the price of gas... we paid anywhere from 1.17 Euros/litre to 1.55 Euros/litre... and the converstion rate is 1.3 so... be thankful for cheap gas over here in Canada!

Although it was good to be away... after a while, you just know it's time to come home... you start longing for some good old Canadian English... and a loonie and a toonie... You long for the familiar... Having traipsed through 10 countries on this trip, I can say that... Canada is still the best!
