The edge of Ideas. The edge of Connections. The edge of the Unknown. And... in 2020... reading my way (again) through a hefty list of World-Changing books.

Birds
Last month I was up in NW BC, driving from PG to Terrace. It was nice an sunny and the snow was mostly gone. The road was wet in many spots and there were flocks of little birds collecting on the highway, pecking away at puddles... Not sure if they were drinking water or have a salty drink! Anyhow... They were pretty kamikaze about it all... Maybe they were just playing a game of chicken. I could almost hear the one of them yell out "car!!"... and then they would wait until the last possible moment and then fly up in the air... Needless to say, my truck ended up wearing several of them as grill and hood ornaments. Not nice!!! So I ended up honking when I'd see a flock of them on the road. That definitely helped, but even then.... some were just a bit ditzy and still managed to zig when they should have zagged!! It was quite sad actually, driving along and seeing little bird carcasses all along the highway... poor little guys... Maybe it's a bird boot-camp thing?? Survival of the fittest/smartest/quickest??
